WOMeN ON WATER (WOW)
Women on Water (WOW) is a relaxed and supportive way for women of all ages and sailing abilities to experience sailing at New Plymouth Yacht Club.

Whether you've never stepped on a yacht before or want more time on the water to build your skills, you're welcome to come along.
what is wow
WOW is all about creating opportunities for women to learn, practise and enjoy sailing in a friendly environment.

Regular guided sailing and boat-handling sessions give you the chance to learn at your own pace, with support from experienced club members.

There's no pressure to do everything. Get involved as much or as little as you like, then enjoy some time socialising back at the club afterwards.

What can you do?
Sessions use a range of NPYC club boats, including ILCA's, 420s, Elliotts and Hartley 16s.

Depending on your experience and what you'd like to learn, you can have a go at:

-
Rigging and preparing a boat
-
Crewing
-
Helming
-
Boat handling
-
Practising your sailing skills
-
Trying a different type of boat
-
Simply coming along to watch and learn

The aim is to give you practical experience and help you develop the skills and knowledge to sail with confidence.
Who is it for?
Everyone from complete beginners to experienced sailors.

You might be looking to try sailing for the first time, refresh your skills, get more practice on the water or meet other women who enjoy sailing.

And if you catch the sailing bug? WOW can be the start of getting more involved with the club, joining club racing or even owning your own boat.
