Spotswood College Sailing Team Revival 2025!

This year, 7 Spotswood College students made the tremendous effort of coming together and forming the first Spotswood College sailing team in over 2 decades. Throughout the year, they trained hard and made leaps and bounds in their sailing ability to adapt to a completely different approach to yachting. Their first victory was a clean sweep against Scots College from Wellington in a friendly regatta with two Wellington teams. As well as holding their own against local rivals NPBHS and FDMC. In March,  they took off to Taupō to compete at their first official regatta, The Central North Island Teams Sailing Regional Champs. They fought hard and learnt a lot, finishing 3rd in Silver Fleet in their first major regatta as a team. Following another month of hard training came the New Zealand Secondary Schools Teams Sailing National Championship, held locally in New Plymouth. Placed in the Emerald fleet, they fought hard against teams familiar and new, and after a week filled with lots of sweat, tears and adversity, came out a great sailing team, finishing 5th. All together the first season of Spotswood College’s Sailing team revival was a great success and everyone is looking forward to next season, and Nationals in Parua Bay, Whangarei.
