LEARN TO SAIL
The New Plymouth Yacht Club offers both junior and adult learn to sail for those who are keen to get out on the water. Check out the courses below and see which one would be best for you.
JUNIOR LEARN TO SAIL
The New Plymouth Yacht Club runs a junior learn to sail program during the sailing season for children nine to fifteen years of age. Boats used for this course are club owned Optimist Dinghys. Once they have completed the three day course in the October or December school holidays they then have the use of the club optimist yachts to start sailing in the club events on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evening coaching which will save parents the need to buy a boat in the short term.
Once sailors have completed the Learn to Sail course they progress to the Learn to race fleet and are introduced to fun games and races on and off the water.
The cost of the course is $200 which includes member benefits and the use of a club optimist dinghy for that season.
